The D Zone has partnered with Varsity Nation to provide a spotlight weekly on the Michigan High School Football player we feel was the top player in the state of Michigan.

Varsity Nation was formed in December of 2010 with the ambition of helping local youth reach their full potential and achieve their dreams. Varsity Nation supports athletes with one on one and group trainings for a variety of sports. All athletes need a supportive coach or trainer to achieve their full potential. With Varsity Nation we give every athlete the opportunity to work with sport specific experts who will provide the support and guidance they need.

Many who have trained with Varsity Nation have achieved scholarships to colleges and have gone on to coach others. Whether your goal is to go to college or to focus on a professional career in athletics Varsity Nation can assist you with reaching these goals.

Varsity Nation provides assistance not only with training, but also with promoting an athlete through recognition, profile videos, and collaboration with colleges and sports affiliates. These promotion techniques are used to make others aware of the athlete’s abilities and potential.

For the 9th week of the 2014 MHSAA football season, we have selected Cass Tech 2015 RB Mike Weber as the Week 9 Player of the Week Presented by Varsity Nation. Mike Weber led the Cass Tech Technicians in a convincing 39-7 win vs. King, in their final regular season game at Ford Field. Cass Tech 2015 RB Mike Weber accounted for 3 of the Technicians 6 touchdowns.

The University of Michigan bound Senior RB was unstoppable in this highly anticipated game in which King was awarded the #1 ranking by the PSL and several others predicted the Crusaders to take out their biter rivals but thanks to the early dominance of Mike Weber, Cass Tech won comfortably. Mike Weber had 266 yards of total offense on this night. Weber needed just 11 carries for 178 yards and 2 rushing TD's, 19 and 68 yards, as well as a impressive screen pass he caught with 1 hand and turned up-field, untouched, for a 76 yard touchdown reception.

The big time plays from Weber, put this game out of reach early for Cass Tech as Weber only needed 11 carries on the night and QB Rodney Hall only attempted 9 passes to ensure a healthy team for the first round of the playoffs vs. Warren Mott.
